Enjoy the Music & Mayhem!
It's the Daily Double!
And the answer is...This acoustic duo is comprised of singer / songwriter / guitarist Alan Dunham and singer /
songwriter / mandolinist Keith Mann. Their musical style varies with every song they perform, and appreciate all genres
of music as long as it is played in a unique manor....
What is "The Widgets", Alex
The Widgets' History
Members
Alan Dunham and Keith Mann first met at Adirondack Community College in upstate New York during 1980. Alan and
Keith were introduced by mutual friends and would often talk about music while sharing laughs... and lots of them.
Crazy as it seems, Alan and Keith seldom played music together, with the exception of the occasional jam at Alan's
or during the New Year's eve parties at Keith's.
It wasn't until Keith started playing Mandolin
in 2002 when they started realizing their music potential as a duo when their old college friend Dave Oot visited from
Syracuse.
Dave loved to sing Karaoke, especially after a beer or two. Alan & Keith decided to take Dave
to a different level of performance, encouraging him to sing with them at an open mic night in Glens Falls. Dave resisted
at first as coffee houses do not serve beer. After some arm twisting Dave gave in.
Alan played 12 string
while Keith played his Mando as Dave sang. Laughs were had, as they were back in the 80's, when
Dave, Keith and Alan performed with levity.
The crowd loved the performance and Alan and Keith realized there was something
unique about the sound those 20 strings made together!
Since then, The Widgets have been playing music with that
same spirit they had that opn mic night with "Oot." They have played ski areas, resorts, fairs and live on
FM radio. Alan, owner of Lylac Recording Studio suggested it was time to record their first original music CD in March
of 2007, thus the creation of Widgetry 101. (Check the Widgetry 101 page on this website) The Widgets perform
11 original pieces and two Traditional songs.

Alan's Bio
Alan was born in Maine in 1961 where he began his song
writing career. In 1979 Alan moved to upstate NY where he continued singing and recording his original works at his
home studio. Alan's home studio evolved into Lylac Studios of South Glens Falls, NY. Later Alan would meet
Liz Winge, who he performs with to this day as Dunham & Winge. Check out their website! Musicinharmony.net (See
the Link below!)
Alan has written countless songs that, in addition to Widgetry 101, can be heard on his solo albums
and Dunham and Winge CD's: Watercolors, Kindred Spirits and Alphabet Soup, which features Keith on lead guitar and Mandolin.
Alan's musical inspiration has been all those musicians from the British invasion (especially The Fab Four and
The Stones), Bob Dylan, Counting Crows and The Gin Blossoms.

Keith's Bio
Keith was born in 1961 upstate
NY where he resides with his very supportive wife Laura. Laura and Keith have two children Becky & Keith III
(Bubba) who both contributed their talents to Widgetry 101. Keith primarily played in local rock bands while
in college. When raising two young children, he layed down his instruments realizing his priority of fatherhood, and
has since been pleased with the results of that decision.
In 2001 Keith's grandmother bought him his first mandolin
for Christmas, an "A" style Kentucky. Keith instantly fell in love with the instrument, and seldom let it
get a day's rest.
Keith received his second mando from his Mom and Dad, a Macica "F" style custom crafted
by Martin Macica. (Visit Marty's website at Macicamandolins.com) Keith's latest mandolin is a circa
1897 Washburn bowlback "Tater bug" which he used on "Same Ol' Ship."
Keith is the Coordinator
of Volunteers for Washington County Hospice and Palliative Care Program where he started the "Notes from the Heart"
volunteer musician program. These volunteer musicians dedicate their talents to the terminally ill and their families.
Keith considers this progam his greatest musical accomplishment.
Keith also enjoys playing on "The
Walk to Emmaus" music teams, where he can praise God with talents he gave him.
Keith's musical influences
include, Kansas, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Sam Bush, and Nickle Creek.
Keith wishes to thank Mom and Dad (Keith and Sharlene) for their love, patience and the example
they provided in life, his wife Laura for the happiness and love she has given him, and kids Becky & Bub for
waking up to those "creative mandolin moments" at 7 AM on Saturday (always know how proud your dad is
of you both), to Sandy and Dick for putting up with those crazy lunch hours and late-night sessions downstairs, author
and friend Jon Katz for teaching me to never stop believing in myself.... and God for his Amazing Grace.
